One thing is for sure, more and more people in the community are stepping up to pay it forward.

Seventh-graders from Eisenhower Middle School are now asking for our help. All it will take is a couple of clicks on the computer to support these students.

Eric Shotts’ seventh-grade students recently participated in a “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” video contest and voting is now open. Shotts is a Technology Education teacher at Eisenhower Middle School and is excited about now being able to share his students’ hard work.

That’s where we come in.

Schools may be closed indefinitely, but that doesn’t mean we stop supporting our local students.

Shotts’ participating students visited Betts Industries twice during the school year to film and interview employees. The students then used the footage to create a two-minute video sharing their take on how cool manufacturing is in Warren County.

With this contest, the students were able to get out of the classroom. The project also allowed them to explore various careers in the local manufacturing industry. All while getting a first-hand experience of the manufacturing industry, the students are also learning skills in various softwares, interviewing techniques, marketing, filming techniques, and video editing skills.

“The students put a lot of time in filming and editing their videos to make their final film,” said Shotts. “Please watch and vote for Eisenhower using the link below! Thank you for your support!”

Other schools participating in the entitled PA Forest & Oil Region 2020 Contest include East Forest (Kahle’s Kitchens), Cranberry (Specialty Fabrication & Powder Coating), Rocky Grove (Franklin Industries), Christian Life Academy (Webco Industries), Oil City (Matric Group), West Forest (Car Mate Trailers), and Titusville (Roser Technologies).
