‘First Lap of Relay for Life 2020’ on Jan. 4

Did you make a resolution to get moving more in 2020? Maybe your plan for the new year involves taking part in a worthy cause.

The good news is you don’t have to wait long, and you can kill two birds with one stone.

Relay for Life of Warren County will hold the group’s inaugural “First Lap of Relay for Life 2020” on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Betts Park. Everyone is welcome to take part in the lap that begins at 9:45 a.m.

The event is part of a worldwide kick-off intended to raise awareness and boost participation. Relay for Life provides a way to celebrate, remember, and fight back in honor of all those who have fought or continue to battle cancer.

Each Relay has special events and activities just for survivors and their caregivers, so they can connect with others and know there is a strong support system available to them.

Relay for Life donations help fund cancer research, patient care programs, and can make a difference in local communities. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Former Relay for Life team members, groups of friends, coworkers, families, and any individuals are encouraged to join the event. Registration is free. Individuals can also join existing teams.

Saturday’s event includes refreshments.

Planning for this year’s Relay for Life event — scheduled for June 13 and 14 at Betts Park — will take place also.
