Veterans family summer picnic Saturday July 13

It’s a time for veterans and their families to gather for food, fun, and fellowship.

The Warren County United Veterans Council will host the third annual Veterans Family Summer Picnic from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Wilder Park in Irvine.

“It’s an opportunity for veterans to get together and share stories,” Delores Stec of the Warren County Veterans Affairs office said. “For some, this may be the only time in a year they’ll see a particular veteran.”

Lunch — burgers and dogs — will be served from noon to 4 p.m.

Music will be provided throughout the event by Smokehouse and Backwoods Bluegrass.

There will also be veterans organizations and other entities available to provide information about services to veterans. “We’ll have a booth set up,” Stec said. “If they have any questions or concerns, we’re there to help.”

Veterans and family members are encouraged to bring their own chairs to the event.

“Come out, have a good time,” Stec said. “Enjoy the company and have fun.”
