Chairs, chairs, everywhere there’s parade chairs

Times Observer photo by Lorri Drumm Chairs, many attached by string, straps and even caution tape are multiplying along Pennsylvania Avenue as people reserve their viewing space for the 72nd annual 4th of July parade.

A long-observed tradition continued Monday as lines of chairs — many connected by string or rope — appeared along Pennsylvania Avenue.

The chairs start showing up in what is considered prime viewing space and continue to multiply as parade day approaches.

The 72nd Annual Warren County 4th of July Parade will begin on Pennsylvania Avenue East on Thursday at 11 a.m. This year’s theme is “A Salute to Warren County.”

This year’s parade, sponsored by United Refining Company, includes seven marching bands, 20 floats, dance teams, drill teams, twirling corps, veteran units, clowns, fire trucks, and more.

Tickets are on sale for the Warren County 4th of July Organization’s Annual Pre-Parade show to be held Thursday, July 4, beginning at 10:30 a.m. — prior to the start of the 72nd Annual Warren County 4th of July Parade. You can purchase bleacher seats for $10 at Virg-Ann’s Flower Shop. A ticket includes lunch, a grand prize ticket, and the best seat on the parade route.

This year’s pre-parade show features area vocalists including James Patrick Hackett, Jim Cheronis, Megan Lehman, Shannon Freehling, and Lil Hunklee, and singing the National Anthem, Elizabeth Merski. A special invocation will be done by Father Scott Jabo from Erie.
