Library books for sale

Due to patron donations, the Warren Public Library has hundreds of slightly-used children’s picture and chapter books. These books are on sale now in the library lobby. Help stop the “summer reading slide.”

Forest Service Fourth of July

The USDA Forest Service – Allegheny National Forest wants all visitors and surrounding communities to have a safe and happy Independence Day this Fourth of July.

Remember the following rules while recreating on the Allegheny National Forest:

All fireworks, here on the Allegheny National Forest, are prohibited at developed rec sites and in caves;

Camping is prohibited within 1,500 feet of the following areas: The Allegheny Reservoir shoreline, Longhouse Drive, and portions of State Routes 59, 321, and 346.

Tidioute Fireman’s Festival

The TAVFD Fireman’s Festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in Tidioute with cornhole, a water battle, softball game, dice game, 50/50, lottery tickets, bouncy house, kids’ games, and prizes, and relay races. The water battle is at noon and the softball game is at 4:30 p.m.

Food and beverages are available for purchase. This is a fundraiser for the Tidioute Area VFD. For information, contact Monica at 730-0021.

Additionally, there is a craft show the same day, and the Battle of Remagen reenactment is being held at 3 p.m. on Tidioute’s infamous bridge.

Tidioute health center board

The Tidioute Area Health & Dental Center, Inc. is searching for at least three additional board members; individuals from the Tidioute area that are committed to seeing a health center stay in Tidioute. The board meets three times a year and more if needed.

All potential new board members will be voted on at a meeting and will be notified if selected. If interested, contact Sandy Jamieson at (814) 484-7286.

Summer Music School open house

Warren County Summer Music School’s annual open house is Friday morning, June 28, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. at Beaty Warren Middle School. The public is invited to attend and observe arts classes in action.

Grief camp

Camp Forget Me Not, a grief camp for children, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St. Warren. The camp is for children ages 7 to 17. Pre-registration is required. Registration forms are available at the Schorman Center office, 1 Main Ave., or by calling 723-8060. This camp is for children who have suffered the death of a family member or friend.
