The Warren High School class of 1960 will meet for lunch at noon Wednesday, May 22, at Vavalos in Gifford, Pa.

Fair week campers

Photo submitted to Times Observer Quilters’ Night Out will present the “ABCs of Quilting” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Warren Area Elementary Center. Over 500 quilts will be on display. Admission is $4 and students are admitted free.

Warren County Fair Week campers are reminded that payment is due by June 1 to Lynn Allen, Fair campground secretary. Inquiries may be made by calling Lynn at (814) 489-7830. Primitive sites are still available for the 2019 Fair, but payment and reservations must be made in advance.

Youngsville Borough closing

Youngsville Borough offices and services will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. Monday’s garbage pickup will be Tuesday of that week, and Tuesday’s will be on Wednesday.

Chautauqua Lake Cleanup

The Conewango Creek Watershed Association’s 5th Annual Chautauqua Lake Cleanup will be held on Saturday, May 18. Participants are asked to meet at the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association (9 E Chadakoin Pkwy, Celoron, N.Y.) at 8 to 8:30 a.m. for registration. Pre-register at www.conewangocreek.org. Due to herbicide spraying on the lake, this year’s event will be land-based.

Weavers Guild

Chautauqua County Weavers Guild will hold its next meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the YWCA in Westfield, N.Y. The program will be twill weave structures. This structure makes sturdy fabric such as denim jeans and works well for towels or shawls. They will discuss straight twill, 2/2 twill, 1/3 or 3/1 twill, alternating twill and broken twill for 4 and 8 harness looms.

Anyone interested in weaving or the guild is welcome to attend.

The EHS Class of ’73 will be having a breakfast at The Bucket Cafe in Sugar Grove at 9:30 on Saturday, May 18. Everyone interested is welcome to attend.

VFW Post 8803

Upcoming events for VFW Post 8803 include:

Thursday, May 23, at 9 a.m. — Flags will be placed at local cemeteries;

Monday, May 27 — Memorial Day Parade will leave the VFW at 10 a.m. and proceed to the cemetery;

Friday, May 31 — Hosting The Band Chaz (times to be announced);

Signups for the annual golf outing are available at the bar. The date is set for Saturday, June 22.

Pine Grove Days

Pine Grove Days are Saturday, May 25, in downtown Russell. The schedule of events includes:

9 a.m. — Run for R.O.A.R 5K (Registration begins at 8 a.m.) at Russell United Methodist Church parking lot;

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Vendor Fair on Main St. (crafters, merchants, food);

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Kids Zone (bounce houses, Bubble Gum DJ, and magic show at Russell United Methodist Church parking lot;

11 a.m. — 2019 Pine Grove Days Parade will travel Woodlawn Dr. to Main St. & State St., ending on Perrigo Lane;

11:45 a.m. — Little Miss & Mister ROAR contest at Russell United Methodist Church Parking Lot

1 p.m. — Corn Hole Tournament at Larimer Park;

Throughout the day — Civil War Medical Display at RUMC Church vestibule;

4:30 to 6 p.m. — The Misfits- Bluegrass Band at the porch of RUMC;

7 to 9 p.m. — Street Dance on Main St.

At Dusk (9 to 9:30 p.m.) — Fireworks at Larimer Park.
