Jazz, Blues & Two Tattoos Saturday at Library Theatre

Jazz, Blues & Two Tattoos

The Warren Concert Association will present its holiday concert — featuring Jazz, Blues & Two Tattoos with the Gary Negbaur Group — at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Struthers Library Theatre.

With a nod to the season, Gary and his guitarist and drummer will perform holiday classics that will call for an audience sing-along. And, in addition to seasonal numbers, they’ll perform the music of Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and Fats Domino along with classics from Broadway and the Great American Songbook. While exploring the classics, this show also reveals how timeless music inspired so much of what came afterward from Elvis to the Beatles to Paul Simon and Billy Joel right up to the present day.

Negbaur, pianist and singer, leads his ensemble through this great repertoire, which he has done around the world, grooving at the Superdome in New Orleans, thrilling audiences at Birdland in NYC, and raising the roof at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. In Paris, he brought the audience to its feet at the legendary Le Bilboquet. Between tours, he’s recorded albums of original rock music, jazz standards, children’s songs, and New Orleans classics. A Harvard-educated composer, Negbaur writes music for theatre, film, and television.

Jazz, Blues & Two Tattoos, sponsored by Northwest Bank, features classics from the ’20s to today, digging into the rich musical traditions of the Big Easy and the Big Apple, making for an unforgettable musical experience.

The concert association is celebrating its improved Facebook presence with an opportunity for concertgoers to be a part of it. Attendees will be invited to have their photo taken in the lobby of the theatre before the concert and, with permission, those photos will appear on the association’s Facebook page.

Tickets are still available for the performance and can be purchased at the box office at the theatre beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. Students 18 and under are welcome to attend for free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. And, if your birthday is on December 8, you can be a member of the WCA birthday club. With proof of your birth date, you can receive two tickets to this concert. Simply present proof at the box office on Saturday evening.
