Blood drive in Lander Thursday
The Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York has scheduled a blood drive for anyone eligible to donate on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at the Lander Fire Department.
The drive will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at 4400 Miller Hill Rd, Russell.
The Community Blood Bank of NWPA & WNY is the exclusive blood supplier to more than 20 hospitals and six Stat MedEvac bases throughout the region.
“Every donation can save the lives of three people, and will help support the blood and plasma supply at local hospitals throughout Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York” says Jaclyn Seymour, community relations specialist for the Community Blood Bank. “When you donate with the Community Blood Bank, you really are saving family, friends and neighbors right here at home.”
Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu. You must have a valid photo ID in order to donate. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 oz. of water.
