Molly Dies’ Dance Express Company will be performing “Excerpts from the Musical CATS” at Warren Area High School this weekend — Saturday, Oct. 6, at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at Linda Dies’ Dance Unlimited, on Conewango Avenue; from any company member; or at WAHS on the day of show.

Doors open one hour prior to show times.

The stage will be turned into a junkyard where the tribe of Jellicle cats emerges telling their own story in song and dance. The music and dances, originally choreographed by Molly Dies, and staged by Emma Darling and Jillian Funari, will lead you deep into the mysterious world of Cats.

It is more intoxicating and magical than you could possibly imagine. This performance will mark the fifth time the Dies local dancers have taken to the stage with this adaptation from the original Broadway show.

...and the Kittens.

The show will be performed by 30 local youths ranging in age from 8 to 18. They will transform themselves, by costume, makeup,

and dance, into various “Cat” characters — costumes by Linda Dies, headed by Rachel Dietsch, makeup created by six Company dancers.

MDDE’s rendition of “Cats” revolves around 11 lead-character cats who meet once a year to rejoice and wait for their leader to choose which one of the cats will be reborn and come back to a new Jellicle life. The song “Memory” is one of the most familiar numbers performed in this musical.

The 2018 performance is directed by Molly Dies, student co-directors Emma Darling and Jillian Funari, and costumes and makeup Linda Dies and Rachel Dietsch.

The cast includes: Rachel Dietsch as “Munkustrap”; Scottlyn Barr as “Jennyanydots”; Rachael Courson as “The Rum Tum Tugger”; Ashley Stanton as “Grizabella”; Hannah Augenstein as “Old Deuteronomy”; Ashley Hoffman as “Bustopher Jones”; Madison Hanks as “Mungojerrie”; Grayce Thomas as “Rumpleteazer”; Paige Rafalski as “Skimbleshanks”; Jillian Funari as “Macavity”; Emma Darling as “Mr. Mistoffolees”; Casey Walters-Snook as “Demeter”; Emily Ickert as “Bombalurina”; and Sarah Hoffman as “Victoria, The White Cat.”

Ensemble kittens include Shayleigh Albaugh, Noel Alexander, Charleigh Archuleta, Madeline Archuleta, Anna Courson, Abby Gens, Julia Getner, Izzy McMonigal, Emelyn Moore, Josie Pearson, Lara Pearson, Lettie Pearson, Rocco Siliano, Ella Solberg, Sarah Tome, and Jordan Young.
