She described the 20 charitable organizations supported by the find. 100 percent of contributions go to the agencies, as administrative costs are paid by the Community Foundation of Warren County. The United Fund supports Dial 2-1-1 for human services.

Pine Grove trick-or-treating

Trick-or-treating in Pine Grove Township will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. Visit only those houses with the porch lights on.

Meeting canceled

The City of Warren Blighted Property Review Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25, is canceled.

Free books at Halloween

Warren resident Ruby Wiles wants to share her passion for bringing books to kids through Halloween Read and Treat.

Wiles is the founder/director of Allegheny Creations, a social enterprise, and of Free Books for Kids Town, a Warren non-profit formed to help children achieve success and go for their dreams.

In addition to locations in Maryland and Montana, trick-or-treaters can get books along with their treats this Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Jamestown (N.Y.) at the Unitarian Church (1255 Prendergast Avenue) from 3 to 6 p.m. and at 3 Barker Street during regular trick-or-treating hours, 6 to 8 p.m.

Also from 6 to 8 p.m. on Halloween, there will be books and treats in Warren at the Warren Public Library (205 Market Street) and at 3 Redwood Street.

College News

Morgan Hoffman of Clarendon was among more than 600 students who earned endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, Ohio, this fall. Hoffman, a graduate of Sheffield Area Middle-Senior High School, majoring in athletic training and pre-physical therapy, earned the Dr. Robert Lechner Memorial Service Award.

Eagle Scout award

Formerly of Warren, Colin Fadale was recently honored as a Hamilton Boy Scout Troop 120 (Hamilton, N.Y.) Eagle Scout. Colin’s grandfather, Thomas A. Fadale, also an Eagle Scout, gave Colin the Eagle Scout Charge. Colin also used the neckerchief slide that his grandfather carved and used in his own Eagle Scout Court of Honor in 1958.

Colin was presented the Eagle pin by his parents, Sean and Stephanie Fadale, also formerly of Warren.
