Weight loss rally

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapters 1489 and 1688 hosted the Fall Rally, “A Witching Good Time,” at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Youngsville. Approximately 70 area members attended from Clarion, McKean, Elk, Potter, Jefferson, and Warren counties.

Table decorations were created by the various chapters represented and the meal was catered by Catering Plus of Sugar Grove. Sylvana Reed, our area captain, led the program.

Several chapters presented skits, door prizes were given out, and various awards were presented for attendance, weight loss, and progress.

At a recent chapter meeting, a program was given by Craig Schneider of Humana, Inc. on the topic of “The Skinny on Fat.” His focus was on explaining the three types of fats and how they help our bodies to function at their best. He stressed the importance of a balanced meal plan and that fats are a part of this.

Locally, there are two TOPS chapters meeting weekly. TOPS is a nonprofit weight-loss support and wellness education organization, focusing on health and making small, steady lifestyle changes for weight loss and better health. “Real People. Real Weight Loss.”

Chapter 1489 meets at noon on Thursdays at the Allegheny Community Center, and Chapter 1688 meets at 3:45 p.m. on Mondays at the Church of the Nazarene.
