Benefit dinner

A spaghetti and meatball benefit dinner — for Austin Hayes — will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Hessel Valley Lutheran Church.

Austin was in a bicycle accident in August, causing medical bills for his family, some (dental) not covered by insurance.

Donations may be sent to Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, 166 Hessel Valley Rd., Chandlers Valley, Pa. 16350. Make checks payable to HCLC and write “Austin” in memo.

The cost of the dinner is a donation, and takeouts are available.

Pet blessing

The community is invited to an open air pet blessing sponsored by the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. The blessing will take place at the park in Sugar Grove on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. There will be a short pet-oriented service with a personal pet blessing. Homemade dog treats and cat toys will be available for all. Refreshments will be available for the “two-leggeds.” Pets need to be leased or crated. Bring a lawn chair.

Recycleathon

The Warren County Recycleathon collection event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Warren County School District Central Office, 6280 Market Street, Russell. Pre-registration is required and can be completed by calling 1-866-815-0016 for an appointment or by registering online at www.ecsr.net.

Holiday treasure sale

The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will host a holiday treasure sale on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church’s education building. Toys, decorations, food, gifts, crafts, baked goods, and much more will be for sale, as well as a huge variety of homemade cookies and candies. Back again this year will also be the kids corner, where nothing is over $1, shopping is limited to children, and free gift wrapping is available. Santa will also be on hand to talk with the children.

Rummage sale

The Russell VFD Auxiliary will hold its rummage sale Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Class lunch

The WAHS class of 1966 will hold a lunch get-together at noon on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Eagles Club on Penna. Ave. East. All classmates and friends of the Class of ’66 are invited to attend.
