‘Juke Box Hero’

Live tribute to Foreigner by Blue Morning Oct. 6

Foreigner fans, you won’t want to miss Blue Morning’s “Tribute to Foreigner,” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Struthers Library Theatre.

American musician and keyboardist Anthony Brown formed the Blue Morning Tribute Band in 2017.

From Warren, Brown enlisted area veteran musicians, Jim Cheronis, for lead vocals; Rich Alcorn, lead guitar; Darrin Payne, drums; and Russ Brunco, bass guitar.

Together, they crafted a solid set list of Foreigner’s greatest hits. They also sprinkled in a few select hit songs from Foreigner lead singer Lou Gramm’s solo career and groups like Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple and ELO to spice up the live show.

Blue Morning Tribute Band stays true to the classic tunes we’ve come to love and adds just enough of a modern edge to the arrangements to create a huge sound that is sure to satisfy long-time Foreigner fans and new audiences alike. Foreigner hits: “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Juke Box Hero,” “Double Vision,” “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold as Ice” and more.

Foreigner is an English-American rock band, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran English songwriter, guitarist, vocalist Mick Jones, ex-Spooky Tooth band member and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson band member, multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald and American vocalist Lou Gramm.

With additions, New York keyboardist Al Greenwood, fellow Brit, drummer Dennis Elliott, and Brooklyn, New York bassist Ed Gagliardi, the new sextet was completed.

Jones came up with the name Foreigner for the band from the fact that no matter what country they were in, three would be foreigners, because he, McDonald and Elliott were English, while Gramm, Greenwood, and Gagliardi were American.

The band’s debut, Foreigner, was released in March 1977 and sold more than four million copies in the United States, staying in the Top 20 for a year with such hits as “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold as Ice” and “Long, Long Way from Home.” With ten multi-platinum albums and sixteen Top 30 hits, Foreigner is universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world that continues to propel sold-out tours and album sales, now exceeding 80 million. Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Urgent”, “Head Games,” “Say You Will,” “Dirty White Boy,” “Long, Long Way From Home” and the worldwide #1 hit, “I Want To Know What Love Is,” Foreigner continues to rock the charts more than 40 years after its inception with massive airplay and continued Billboard Top 200 album success.

Breaking the record in Billboard magazine, “Waiting For A Girl Like You” was #2 in the Top 10 for 14 weeks and landed Foreigner at #49 on Billboard’s Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists chart above The Eagles at #54, Fleetwood Mac at #73 and Aerosmith at #90. Although Foreigner has yet to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall-of-Fame, Foreigner’s leader and founder, Jones, was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013.
