The Woman’s Club of Warren presents its inaugural Pet Expo 2018 — Shop & Learn from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the ballroom at 310 Market Street in Warren.

The Woman’s Club Pet Expo is an opportunity for the public to learn about the diverse aspects of pet ownership of dogs, cats, horses, alpacas, and purchase pet-related items. This is a fundraiser to help the Woman’s Club maintain its historic building.

Although no pets will be allowed in the ballroom, the Pet Expo will be a fun, community gathering of pet lovers.

Shop

Pet-related vendors and pet service organizations will be in the club ballroom from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a $3 admission.

Kolette Johnson (Saddle Sisters) will have a wide array of equine items for sale.

Non-profits (501c3) in the area who deal with pets will be given the courtesy of a free table in the ballroom to promote their services to the community. The people working to establish a dog park in the area will be one of these non-profits.

Pet-related vendors unable to attend may have a quarter-table display where business cards and a poster or leaflets may be shown.

Pet Portraits

If you’re searching for a unique and special idea for gifting at the holidays or for a significant occasion, consider calling Karen Hertzle of Moments in Time studio at 723-7439 to make an appointment for a portrait of your pet (or you and your pet) taken in the Victorian front parlor on Sept. 22. This is the only area of the building in which pets will be permitted during the Expo.

Learn

There will be four learning presentations to choose from on the second floor of the club, including:

9:45-10:30 a.m.: Monica Haritan of Sleepy Moon Farm in Scandia will speak on holistic animal health;

11-11:45 a.m.: Marnee Booth will make a presentation on pet massage;

12:30-1:15 p.m.: Ed Bennett, a farrier with experience with shoeing horses and equine corrective shoeing, will explain that art;

2-2:45 p.m.: Amy Bennett will tell of her experience with service animal training for special needs children in the final program of the day.

The cost is $5 for each presentation or all four for $15. Registration and pre-payment is necessary to provide enough seating and handouts for each attendee. Attending any of the presentations qualifies you for free entry ($3 value) to the vendors in the ballroom all day. Call 723-5910 to register for these programs and pre-pay your ticket.

The Woman’s Club will also feature a book table of animal-related literature for all children and adults asking only for a donation for the reading treasures you select.

Relax and snack

A coffee and tea bar with sweets will be on sale all day in the ballroom. Take a break from shopping or viewing a presentation on the second floor and have a beverage and cooky.
