Warren Zonta open house

The Zonta Club of Warren celebrates its 90th anniversary from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center. The open house will feature vintage clothing and accessories, historical memories, dignitaries and refreshments. Guests are welcome to dress in the spirit of the decades.

Class to lunch

The Eisenhower High School class of 1963 will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Perkins in Warren.

Chicken dinner

The Sheffield Senior Center will hold a chicken dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, for the cost of a donation.

Vets office closed

The Warren County Veterans Affairs office will be closed Oct. 1 through 5 for continuing education and Oct. 8 for Columbus Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

4:30 p.m. Gates open for teams

5:45 p.m. Gates open for ticket sales ($5 adult/$3 student/$3 seniors)

6:30 p.m. Captain and coaches meeting with referees

6:43 p.m. Teams leave field

6:44 p.m. Warren band takes the field to play their half time show

6:52 p.m. Teams enter field

6:55 p.m. Singing of National Anthem by Warren band and Alma Mater by WAHS Madrigals

6:58 p.m. Dragons are introduced to the crowd

7 p.m. Kickoff

There will be extended halftime for the homecoming events and the Oil City band will perform its halftime show.

Service news

A 2003 OCS, East Peoria, Illinois, graduate and Warren native is serving in the U.S. Navy aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, home to the U.S. Navy’s newest maritime, patrol and reconnaissance aircraft.

Lt. Chris Robare is a Navy pilot serving with Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 11 (CPRW-11).

Conversations about at-risk kids

The Whole Child: A Faith-Based Holistic Response to Kids in Crisis, hosted by Evangelical United Methodist Church of Youngsville, on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Our community has reached the point of needing an integrated, holistic approach to answering the needs of our at-risk kids. It’s time we started talking to one another.

There will be four learning tracks addressed, including:

Early Childhood Signals;

Grandparents Raising Their Grandchildren;

The Role of the Community;

The Role of the Church.

Join for this free event for an afternoon’s conversation about our most vulnerable blessings — our children.

Sunday Worship is at 11 a.m., a potluck diner follows at 12:15 p.m., and the conference begins at 1 p.m.
