Mushroom walk and talk

Join the Central PA Mushroom Club for a presentation on how to identify edible and non-edible mushrooms at Chapman State Park from 2 to 3:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will be held at the park’s Environmental Learning Center, 4790 Chapman Dam Road, Clarendon. A guided walk will follow if weather conditions are favorable for mushrooms. Fire police needed

Fire police are needed on Saturday, Sept. 29, for the PSCFT Parade in Tidioute. Meet downstairs in the Tidioute Fire Hall at 11:30 a.m.

Class lunch

The WHS class of 1959 will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Richard Restaurant on Rt. 6, Youngsville. Richards is handicapped-accessible.

More than 700 students graduated from the Summer Semester from Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Ankeny, Boone, Carroll, Newton, Urban and West Campuses, including Warren’s Cameron Powell in Gas Metal Arc Welding.

CCWA Gala

The Conewango Creek Watershed Association Annual Gala will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Audubon Community Nature Center in Jamestown, N.Y. The Gala will celebrate the accomplishments, volunteers, and watershed of Conewango Creek. Appetizers will start at 5:30 p.m.

After a short business meeting, Luke Bobnar from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will give a presentation titled “A Beautiful Mess… and other Stream Improvements: Stories of local conservation.”

Bobnar is a watershed scientist with more than eight years of experience in aquatic and terrestrial monitoring and restoration. He works in the Upper Allegheny and Clarion River watersheds as well as the Pennsylvania Lake Erie tributaries, focusing on water quality and fish habitat improvements on public and private lands. He lives near the Clarion River with his wife, children, and a large dog named WigWag.
