Bocce tournament

The Warren Bocce Players’ tournament will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Bocce courts at Betts Park in Warren. The tournament starts at 2 p.m. and a picnic afterward will start at 5 p.m.

Author pens book

Warren County resident and author Judy Sharer has written a historical romance titled “Settler’s Life, Hold on to your dreams.” The book is the first in a family saga series titled, “A Plains Life.”

Photos submitted to Times Observer The Cub Scouts of Pack 14 out of Russell went to visit the Allegheny National Fish Hatchery on Saturday, Sept. 15. Hatchery manager Larry Miller showed a video on how they raise the fish from eggs, tag the fish, and then release the fish. The Scouts then had a tour of the facility to see fish in different stages of development. The Cub Scouts of Pack 14 will be having a popcorn/nut show and sell on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Northwest Saving bank in North Warren. WAHS tailgate

The tailgate party for the kickoff to WAHS homecoming week is Monday evening at War Memorial Field. This is a night in which student-athletes can take a time out to relax and to hang out with their fellow athletes.

The event will begin at approximately 7 p.m. (after the junior varsity girls soccer game) and will run to approximately 9 p.m.

The WAHS Varsity Club would like to invite student-athletes and families for hot dogs, chips and water. There will be an introduction of the WAHS fall sports teams, music, and a student cornhole tournament.
