Basic Training offered for Master Gardening
It’s basic training for master gardening. Warren County Penn State Extension is offering Master Gardener Basic Training classes starting in October.
“This volunteer training course is designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills to serve as volunteer educators,” Penn State Extension’s Doug Sutton said. “Master gardeners use research-based information to teach information on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.”
The program runs on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from Oct. 5 to March 8, at the Extension Office at the Rouse Annex, 100 Dillon Drive, Youngsville. Applications will be accepted by Sutton at warrenmg@psu.edu through Sept. 26.
The cost of the class is $200.
“In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to the county Master Gardener program within the first year and 20 hours each year thereafter to maintain certification,” Sutton said.
