On April 21, Northwest employees, above, left, did their part to commemorate “http://ogden_images.s3.amazonaws.com/www.timesobserver.com/images/2017/04/21235524/Earth-Day2-355×500.jpg” alt=”” width=”355″ height=”500″ class=”alignnone size-medium wp-image-650925″ /> with the help of Snell Landscape Services, LLC, by planting a maple tree on the lawn outside their corporate headquarters on Liberty Street. Earth Day is a day to educate people about environmental issues and promote a healthy environment through recycling and conservation. Now, nearly 50 years later, people around the world commemorate Earth Day by holding recycling events, cleaning up trash and planting flowers and trees. “We thought planting a tree would be a nice way to do our part to help the environment,” notes Cameron Skelton, assistant vice president, professional development and wellness officer of Northwest Bank. “Earth Day is a perfect opportunity to show our community we care about helping our planet thrive, and we couldn’t think of a better way to do that than by planting a tree that will last for many years.” Did you know? One large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to four people. Join Northwest and the 200 million people in 141 countries around the world this Earth Day to do your part to help the planet. For more information on Earth Day, visit www.earthday.org. At right, William Wagner, president and CEO of Northwest, helps to plant the tree.
