At Warren Area Elementary Center last week, the entire school sang Christmas carols in the gym. While John Eberhart, retired teacher and guitarist, and Rachel McClellan, kindergarten teacher at WAEC, led the singing, children did the motions to some of their favorite Christmas songs. Some classes were allowed to wear their favorite pajamas to school, which gave the day an even more relaxed feeling. Students’ eyes opened wide when Santa Claus appeared unexpectedly! They had the opportunity to gleefully ‘high five’ Santa and some were lucky to get a hug from Santa. Afterwards, children returned to their classes of delightfully decorated doors to do some more learning in a festive atmosphere of “Santa’s watching” as his surprise visit lingered in their minds. The rest of the day flew by as fast as Santa’s reindeer!
