Warren Players presents: A Tale of Cassadaga cast
A Tale of Cassadaga is a ghostly romantic comedy for all ages and all who are young at heart. The story revolves around a true historic figure, George P. Colby (John Shaughnesy), who was one of of our nation’s first Spiritualists. He lived in Lily Dale, New York, until, as the legend goes, he was visited by his spiritual guide who instructed him to go south and start a second spiritual camp. He did, in Cassadaga, Florida, where the play takes place.
George P. Colby, a spirit in the play, is also somewhat of a prankster. He is waiting for Claire the clairvoyant (Paula Roney), a warm-hearted medium, able to see and communicate with him, to join him in the astral world. But first, aging Claire has some earthly business to take care of. Tiona (Dawn Sears), a young married woman from New York City arrives at her cottage, hoping to find answers to her frightening dream.
Claire conducts a seance, and the spirit of a young Seneca princess (Samantha Morgan) appears. The maiden, who has been haunting Tiona, passes to her a secret hidden below the lake. But complications arise by the arrival of Tiona’s husband George (Michael Sternberg) during a hurricane. Now, before being taken away to safety, Tiona must discover if the secret passed to her is the real secret of Cassadaga.
Rounding out the cast is the Jehovah Witness (Lou Cable) and Lorraine, the Shopkeeper (Lil Hunkele) whoassist Claire in completing her earthly business.
Performances are scheduled for May 19, 20, and 21 at 7 p.m. and May 22 at 2 p.m. at the historic Struthers Library Theatre.
