Warren woman wins $20K in Tops’ ‘Rip It and Win It’

Photo submitted to Times Observer Tops Friendly Markets announced that Leilani Baxter, left, from Warren, pictured with store manager Steve Peroski was a $20,000 winner in the Tops Friendly Markets Monopoly Rip It And Win It game.

Sometimes all you need is a little bit of luck.

Leilani Baxter of Warren was the second $20,000 winner in the Tops Friendly Markets Monopoly Rip It And Win It game. Amid concerns in the world right now about the COVID-19, Tops is still making sure people’s baskets are filled with their essentials including great prizes like Monopoly wins.

When asked if she had any fun strategies when playing, she admitted she and her husband only stopped at the store for a few things and received two tickets for their purchase.

According to Baxter, there is no secret to playing and winning, all it simply takes is a little luck.

She said that it was the first time playing the monopoly game for her and her husband and it was on their way home she decided to open up the tickets. It only took ripping open the first one to claim a winner.

“The excitement was overwhelming,” said Baxter. “I felt like a kid in a candy store.”

It was reported that Baxter said she was going to buy a new car with her money, however, she said that this isn’t true. She and her husband haven’t decided what to do with the money, but she says that she has some ideas. They do not have any official plans because of everything going on with the coronavirus emergency.

Baxter was able to help someone impacted by the virus and plans to help others.

Another amazing member of the community paying it forward.

Rip It and Win It tickets are at Tops Friendly Markets locations now through May 23, 2020 (or while tickets last). Shoppers can instantly win $20,000, like Leilani Baxter, as well as Tops gift cards, gas points, free food, and more. The game allows customers to play every time they check out at a Tops location using their Tops BonusPlus Card. Each purchase transaction will receive one game ticket and customers will also receive a game ticket for each participating vendor product purchased.
