Bon-Ton raises $4.3M

Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., which operates Bon-Ton, Boston Store, Bergner’s, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers stores, raised more tahn $4.3 million for local 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, local schools and its national partner, the American Heart Association. Non-profit groups signed up to sell savings booklets in their neighborhoods and online Jan. 5 through Feb. 28 for a $5 donation to support their group. The organization kept 100 percent of the $5 donations.

The company provides the booklets, selling guidance and support at no cost to participating non- profit organizations. The semi-annual Community Days event took place at all Bon-Ton stores nationwide on Feb. 27-28.

Kathryn Bufano, President and CEO, The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. said, “We are committed to supporting our local communities and we are thrilled with the result from the Spring 2015 Community Days event. Over $4.3 million was raised for these local organizations.”

More than 7500 nonprofit organizations and schools signed up to sell $5 savings booklets, which contained more than $500 worth of exclusive coupon savings to use at all stores and online during the event. In return, the purchaser received the valuable booklet of offers, which pays the donor back with a $10 off coupon and 30 percent off shopping pass.

The Bon-Ton Stores have raised more than $125 million for local non-profit groups since Community Days began in 1999.
