Concert draws hundreds downtown

Times Observer photos by Brian Ferry

The annual Pops at the Fountain spread music through downtown Warren. The concert, which features members of the Warren Philharmonic and students, interns, and teachers from Summer Music School, playing together in one ensemble, drew hundreds to the block of Second Avenue next to the Flatiron Building. The group rehearsed on location prior to the 7 p.m. performance. Members of Summer Music School, dressed in pink SMS shirts, interspersed with the members of the philharmonic in white and black. The vocal soloists came from both groups. The dancers were from the SMS. There was even a guest conductor. The group was able to hang together after Conductor Bryan Eckenrode called for a volunteer from the audience who “can’t carry a tune in a bucket.”
