Pennsylvania Sports Betting Posts Record November as Handle Nears $1 Billion
Pennsylvania’s regulated sports betting market reached a new high point in November. It set records for both total wagers and revenue as activity surged across the state. Sportsbooks reported nearly $991 million in bets over the course of the month. This has been the highest figure recorded since wagering launched in 2019, and sits alongside roughly $125 million in revenue. The results reflect sustained interest as the football calendar moved deeper into the season. This is supported by widespread mobile access and a notably competitive operator market.
This momentum does not exist in isolation. As engagement increases during peak sports months, many bettors also spend more time across Pennsylvania’s wider digital gaming ecosystem. A good example is the online casinos for real money available under the same regulated framework, which operate alongside sports wagering rather than in competition with it. These platforms often appeal for practical reasons rather than novelty. They offer around-the-clock access, familiar casino formats, and straightforward payment methods that fit into the same apps and accounts used for betting. Their steady presence helps explain why digital gaming activity tends to rise at the same time as sports wagering rather than compete with it.
November’s betting handle comfortably surpassed the previous monthly record set earlier in the fall. According to figures that have been released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the total also represented a notable jump compared with November last year. This reinforces a pattern of consistent annual growth. Revenue climbed even faster than betting volume did, indicating that sportsbooks held a slightly higher percentage of wagers than in some previous months. This is a common outcome during periods of heavy football betting.
Online sportsbooks accounted for the vast majority of wagers again, which is a long-established trend in the state. Retail sportsbooks at casinos and sports venues contributed a smaller share of handle but still posted solid results. This came particularly on weekends with major NFL and college football matchups. Mobile betting’s dominance shows how most customers now interact with sportsbooks: they are placing wagers from home or on the move rather than visiting physical locations.
With regard to specific operators, FanDuel led the market in November, as it generated the highest handle and revenue among Pennsylvania operators. DraftKings followed closely behind. BetMGM, Fanatics, and several other licensed sportsbooks rounded out the field, as each maintained a share of the market through varied pricing strategies and promotional offerings. The top operators do continue to command most wagers, but the overall spread indicates a competitive environment across the board.
The strong November performance extended beyond sports wagering alone. When combined with online casino gaming, fantasy contests, and other regulated gambling activity, Pennsylvania’s total gaming revenue reached another monthly record. Online casino revenue in particular was a major contributor, continuing a trend that has seen digital casino play consistently outperform retail casino gaming in raw monthly totals since its launch.
Seasonal factors also played a clear role in November’s results. The convergence of NFL regular-season games, college football rivalries, and early NBA and NHL schedules created a dense slate of events that naturally supports higher wagering levels. Operators also benefited from bettors who are active across multiple sports, which smoothed activity throughout the month instead of concentrating it around specific, isolated weekends.
From the state’s perspective, the surge carried clear financial implications. Pennsylvania’s tax structure places relatively high rates on both sports betting and online casino revenue, meaning strong months translate directly into increased funding for state programs. Since legalization, gaming taxes have become a reliable source of public revenue, and November’s figures reinforced that role without relying on one-off events.
As the calendar turns, Pennsylvania’s sports betting market enters the winter months with clear momentum. While November set the headline figures, the underlying pattern shows steady participation rather than a temporary spike. With football playoffs approaching and digital gaming firmly established as part of everyday entertainment habits, the state’s betting market appears positioned to remain active well beyond a single record-setting month.
