Drew Allar: Penn State’s Star QB Eyes NFL Draft and Childhood Dream with Cleveland Browns

Though the college football season is not yet underway, there are a myriad of up-and-coming talents who are already being linked as potential first-round NFL Draft Picks for 2026. High among them is impressive Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, who has already made it clear which NFL team he’d most like to represent, should he indeed make the jump to the big leagues.

The 21-year-old senior threw for over 3000 yards last season, completing 24 touchdowns and adding another six rushing TDs, and he played a key role in James Franklin’s set-up, with the Nittany Lions going 13-3 for the season, ending with a defeat to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.

Last season was the first 13-win season for Penn State, and if you want to back Franklin and Allar to take things to the next step, perhaps even winning a first national title since 1986, then why not make the most of these Pennsylvania betting apps to help make your bet as lucrative as possible?

As for where Allar would like to be drafted, it turns out his childhood favorites, the Cleveland Browns, are who he leans towards.

“That would definitely be special,”

“My dad had season tickets growing up. They’ve been passed down since my great-grandfather. Back in the 50s or 60s, my family first got the tickets in their name. That would definitely be surreal just because I grew up going to every home game from the time I was seven to eight years old to by the time I was a freshman in college.”

It’s a way off, but the Browns could well consider such a move, not least as among their four current options, there is no standout. 53-year-old head coach Franklin clearly rates Allar highly and singled the young talent for praise earlier this summer.

“I’m just proud of him. Drew has made tremendous growth every single year, all the way back to recruiting.”

“I don’t know if a lot of people remember, but Drew, when we first started recruiting him, was a three-star recruit, kind of a throwback recruit. Kept getting better, kept moving up the charts.”

“And has gotten better every single year, really in every single area. He’s 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds now, can make every throw on the field, and has shown he can hurt people with his feet. And has really made tremendous strides as a leader, holding himself to a really high standard and willing to have tough conversations with his teammates.”

“He’s made significant leaps every year, and we expect him to take another significant leap this year. Most people had him projected as a first-round draft choice last yea,r and he decided to come back to school. Unfinished business, collectively, as a team, but also as an individual. I’m a big Drew fan.”

Perhaps Browns fans could consider a poor season a worthwhile trade-off to aid their pursuit of a generational talent like Allar, and when you consider Cleveland has won just one postseason game since 1994, one imagines a sub-standard campaign is not beyond the realms of possibility. In doing so, they’d push up the draft pick list, and they currently have two first-round picks for 2026 anyway.
