County COVID rate remains high; 38 new cases Friday

Warren County continues to experience a high incidence of new cases of COVID-19.

On Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health added 38 cases to the county toll, bringing the total to 5,340.

Of the total, 4,342 cases are confirmed and 998 probables, according to the department.

The COVID-related death toll remains at 165.

There have been 211 new cases and eight deaths reported in the county since the end of November.

The department’s data shows fewer COVID patients at Warren General Hospital this week – 11, down from 14 on Monday. No COVID patients were on ventilators and none were in intensive care according to the department.

The county’s percent positivity dropped since a high point of over 35 percent earlier this week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) but remained elevated at 23.53 percent of the 555 tests performed over the seven-day period. Crawford County had the highest positivity in the region on Friday, at 33.08. Both Venango and Potter counties also had higher positivities that Warren’s.
