Rapp holds Health Committee hearing on Rx drug prices

It’s budget season in Harrisburg.

And the House of Representatives Health Committee held a public hearing on Tuesday to discuss prescription drug prices.

The chair of the Health Committee? State Representative Kathy Rapp.

A statement from Rapp’s office indicated that the hearing would “feature presentations” from several individuals.

That list included Sarah Edmond, executive vice president at the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review; Jane Horvath, senior policy fellow with the National Academy for State Health Policy; Chris Molineauz, CEO of LifeSciences PA and Lauren Neves, director of policy at Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. “There’s a lot of barriers that we see, especially in prescriptions,” Rapp said during the hearing according to video posted on reprapp.com. “It certainly is a huge issue with our constituents and we’re always willing to look at other state’s legislation that (could) help ease the burden on our constituents.”

She thanked those who presented, the staff who coordinated the hearing and the members of the public in attendance “for taking interest in being here and listening.”

“I don’t think this will be the last of this type of hearing because this is obviously an ongoing issue,” Rapp said. “So we definitely appreciate all of your input.”
