Jan. 12: Meatload Dinner, Russell United Methodist Church, 4 to 7 p.m. Includes mashed potatoes and gravy, two sides, dessert, and beverage. Minimum donation $10. Eat in or take out.

Jan. 12: Chautauqua Chamber Singers will again perform at First Lutheran Church, 4 p.m. This concert of “Lessons and Carols” is sung dressed in Renaissance costumes, making it aurally and visually engaging. There is no charge for this event.

Jan. 14: Monday Night at the Movies — JAWS. This free showing starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Slater Room of Warren Public Library, and snacks are provided.

Jan. 21: January is National Soup Month. In celebration of this event, the Warren Public Library is sponsoring its 9th Annual Soup Recipe Contest on Monday, January 21. Call the Warren Public Library at 723-4650 no later than Friday, January 11, to pre-register to participate in this event. Participants may enter a maximum of three soups into the contest. The soups, along with a written copy of the recipe, must be prepared and brought to the library on Monday, January 21, between 10 and 11:30 a.m. for judging. Cash prizes will be awarded to the cooks of the three winning recipes.

Jan. 27: Warren County Bridal Expo (sponsored by Times Observer), Conewango Club, 1 to 4 p.m. $5 tickets sold at door.

Feb. Warren County District Spelling Bee (Northwest Bank/Times Observer), 9 a.m., Beaty-Warren Middle School.
