The evening of diverse music will start at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, showcasing four local talents: The Elektra Kings, Cindy Love, the Pearsons and Take 5.

The Elektra Kings is a band that needs no vocalist; they let the instruments do the talking. Cindy Love, an acoustic guitar based jivin’ gal, rocks songs from Johnny Cash to Janis Joplin. The Pearsons is led by Cathy and Scott, both award-winning instrumentalists. They are a family band that plays traditional acoustic instrumental music with fiddle, mandolin and guitar and mixes bluegrass, swing and old-time styles into their own blend of music. Take 5 is a classic rock band who plays classic rock music from the 60s to the 90s. You may hear a variety of songs like Surfaris “Wipeout,” Hall & Oates’ “She’s Gone,” Unger & Mason’s “Lover’s Waltz”& Heart’s “Crazy on You.” Come enjoy and support local musicians and their “Locally Owned Talent.”

The Elektra Kings features three local musicians: Danny Imig, lead guitar; Jim Sturdevant, drums; and Gavin Paterniti, bass. The trio has been performing together since 2010. The group primarily focuses on performing surf, spy and psychedelic blues, and does both originals like “Blue Agave” and cover tunes of true 1960s surf music like “Wipe Out” to 1950s songs like “Rebel Rouser.” Imig is a Chicago native and has been performing in various bands since the 1970s and has studied classical guitar. Sturdevant, a Warren, Pa., native, studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, and took lessons from local jazz musician Floyd Williams. He toured nationally with The Heavy Metal Horns, which recorded two albums. Paterniti played bass with Guitarmageddon and Joint Effort before joining The Elektra Kings. Their performance will be an experience you won’t want to miss it.

Cindy Haight, aka Cindy Love, has performed regionally since the late1990s, solo and in bands including her own band, Djava and as lead singer of The Derbines. Djava opened for The 10,000 Maniacs and blues great, Koko Taylor. In 2009, Cindy Love released her first, all-original CD titled “Songs of Love and Haight.” The style of the music lends itself to a mixture of blues soul folk and country. In live performance, Cindy blends a mix of her beautiful original songs with classic country, blues and rock covers that really showcase her talent. Cindy has performed at the Great Blue Heron Music Festival for several years, with bands, solo and as part of the singer/songwriter circle. A few songs you may hear Cindy sing: “Atlantic City” by Bruce Springsteen and “She’s Gone” by Hall & Oates.

The Pearsons use a variety of combinations with fiddle, mandolin and guitar, mixing bluegrass, swing, and old time styles into their own blend of music. Both Cathy and Scott are award-winning instrumentalists who have made their home in Warren County since 1997. They are both members of the band “Border Ride” and have performed many venues around the eastern United States with the band and as a duo. They have recently started to be accompanied on stage by their two oldest children, Aubrey, 15, and Selvie, 12, who have been studying violin with Sue Tillotson for the last few years. Both Aubrey and Selvie have won fiddle contests in their age divisions.

Together since 2009, Take 5 Band is a Warren/Jamestown based classic rock band featuring some of the area’s best musicians: Krista Paterniti – lead vocals, Cameron Bussoletti – lead guitar, Mike Roney – bass guitar/vocals and Caleb Albright – drums. Take 5 plays the best classic rock from the late 60’s to the 1990’s. Some of the artists include: Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Heart, Pat Benatar, Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen. A few songs you may enjoy from Take 5 are Guns & Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine” and Heart’s “Crazy on You.”
