Snyder 50th

Jim and Jane Snyder will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 22, 2017, with family and friends at DeNunzio’s Italian Chophouse in Latrobe. Jim and Jane were married at Sheffield United Methodist Church by Reverend Boyd on July 22, 1967.

Jim is the son the of the late Leo and Alice (Hanson) Snyder. He graduated from Kane High School in 1956 and served in the National Guard from 1959 until 1967. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary History in 1967 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he began teaching in the Hempfield Area School District in Greensburg. Completing 33 years of service, Jim retired in June 1999.

Jane is the daughter of the late Monroe (Mindy) and Ellen Louise (Chitester) Blodgett. Jane graduated from Sheffield Area High School in 1964 and obtained her LPN degree at the Bradford School of Practical Nursing in 1965. She also obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse from Westmoreland County Community College in 1992 while simultaneously working at Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. Jane retired after 36 years of service at the hospital.

Jim and Jane have two children, Katherine (Snyder) Finfrock and husband Ronald of Greensburg, and Michael Snyder and wife Tina, also of Greensburg. Jim and Jane have one beloved grandchild, Justin Tyler Finfrock.

The couple met at the Sheffield Roller Rink, and although they don’t skate much anymore, they still enjoy golfing, bowling, and traveling together. Jim and Jane also enjoy spending time with their family and friends.
