Dear Editor, We live in a time when I hear often people just do not care! Last week, I was able to participate in a community event that showed this just is not true. The Community Thanksgiving dinner held at the Clarendon Veterans building on Thanksgiving Day. A huge thank-you to Sandra and Frank Blum and their family for organizing this event with all the tremendous work needed to see it through! If Gov. Josh Shapiro was a parent, he would ground the state Education Department for the laggard proficiency rates on 2025 PSSA tests taken earlier this year by third- through eighth-graders throughout the commonwealth. That’s how bad the Education Department did on this part of its report card. Total proficiency for elementary and middle scholars was 48.5% in ELA and 41.7% in math.
