A Center Square article recently examined the potential conflict between the administration of Gov. Josh Shapiro and the Trump Administration over environmental policy. Last week in Jamestown, Congressman Nick Langworthy closed his district office on Second Street, Jamestown, after what the congressman said were credible threats. Langworthy said in a news release there had been threats against both Langworthy and members of his staff. A year ago vandalism took place at Langworthy’s Jamestown office while, a short time later, a suspicious package was sent to Langworthy’s Clarence, N.Y., office. Our opinion: Find Child Advocacy Center funds

The Warren County Child Advocacy Center provides a valuable service to children and their families. That statement is true for similar advocacy centers around the state. But those centers - typically with small staffs and volunteer boards of directors - spend a lot of time raising money in order to operate. We won’t say that fundraising comes at the expense of helping children, but we have no doubt that budget pressures for child advocacy center officials are a headache. Our opinion: Proposal gets its due diligence

We don’t know yet if a community-led proposal to develop the property at 231-237 Pennsylvania Avenue West makes economic sense or not. Judging from the most recent Warren Redevelopment Authority meeting, RDA board members aren’t sure either. But they’re willing to listen. The year 2026 is upon us, and our state lawmakers and state officials should offer Pennsylvanians two resolutions — to reform our state’s government in ways that encourage rather than punish development and job creation, and to reduce state spending. Our opinion: Broadband news is encouraging

Recent discussion of broadband expansion by the Warren County Commissioners is encouraging - but also a reminder of how far we still have to go. Michael Lyon, Warren County planning director, told Warren County Commissioners during a recent meeting that the Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission, of which Warren County is a member, was awarded around $90 million in federal BEAD (Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment) program funds.
