Involuntary manslaughter charge added in New Year’s Day shooting

A North Warren man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting death. Zachary Wells, 21, had been charged back in March with two counts of receiving stolen property and tampering with physical evidence. UPDATE: Crash reported near Pittsfield

Law enforcement and volunteer fire departments responded to a crash this afternoon in Pittsfield. Reports indicate the collision occurred at 37030 Route 6 after 4 p.m. Thursday. A map indicates that it is near Cabin in the Pines. As of 6 p.m., crews were still on the scene and it is unknown if there were injuries. County school board eyes Sheffield, Youngsville closures

The Warren County School District board will entertain a motion at its Sept. 9 meeting to close Sheffield and Youngsville high schools. The motion would see grades 9-12 at Youngsville consolidated to Eisenhower. Sheffield students, who already come to Warren for core classes each day, would shift full time to Warren. “There’s not going to be a school district in 10 years if we don’t do something,” Board President Paul Mangione said. Board member John Wortman said the motion he proposes would implement the closures for the 2024-2025 school year.
