Warren softball rolls past Harbor Creek

Kiersten Hoffman, Celia Chase and the Warren Lady Dragons rolled to their 11th straight win on Monday at Harbor Creek.
HARBORCREEK, Pa. – The Warren Lady Dragons took advantage of six Harbor Creek errors and used a balanced offensive attack en route to a 9-1 victory.
The win gave Warren (11-1 overall, 4-0 Region 7) a sweep of the regular-season series.
Ellie Lobdell was brilliant once again, allowing just an unearned run in the first inning, striking out nine and allowing just two hits in her seven innings of work.
Warren scored three runs in the first inning against Harbor Creek pitcher Macy Stoddard. Lex Nyquist led off the game with a walk and, after a Julia Lobdell sac bunt, scored on an error, one of three runs scored for the junior shortstop on the day. Celia Chase also scored on an error and Alix Lytle’s fielder’s choice brought in pinch-runner Ellie Irwin.
The Lady Dragons got the single HC run back in the second. Kiersten Hoffman continued her strong hitting with a double to left that brought in Nyquist.
Kelsey Stuart scored on an error in the fourth and Julia Lobdell’s bunt single scored Katie Madigan to make it 6-1.
Leading 6-1 going into the seventh, Warren tacked on three more runs.
Hoffman’s second RBI came on a groundout and Ellie Lobdell followed by hitting her fifth home run of the season — to dead center.
“We are having better at-bats lately, especially later in the game as we adjust,” said Warren coach Jon Sitler. “We were aggressive at the plate and on the bases today.
“Defensively, we weren’t perfect, but Ellie worked her way out of it early on and then took control,” said Sitler.
Nyquist had two hits for Warren. Jenna Babay and Ali Benim had the Harbor Creek hits.
Warren won the junior varsity game, 9-7, with an 11-hit attack. Alix Lytle and Ellee Irwin had three hits each for Warren, with Irwin’s hits all being doubles. Lytle, Irwin, and Rylie Yeager had multiple RBIs each. Stuart had her seventh JV pitching win of the season, striking out 14 and scattering eight hits.
Warren is back in action today, hosting Villa on Senior Day, with festivities beginning at 3:30 p.m. With a win, Warren can lock up at least a share of the Region 7 title.
