Dragons fall to region champ Fairview

The Warren Dragons girls tennis team fell to Region champion Fairview 5-0 at Betts Park on Thursday.

At first singles, Gracie Wood lost to Erica Jasinski 6-2, 6-2. At second singles, Emily Grimm fought hard, but came up short against Emily Duckett by a score of 6-2, 6-4. At third singles, Taylor Lester played well, but was defeated by Audra Carnes 6-0, 6-0.

At first doubles, Ceci Citro and Maddie Rodgers lost to Jillian Decker and Sara Debello 6-0, 6-2. At second doubles, Katiy McCracken and Alanna Hultberg came up short against Emma Kissel and Siegrid Tuttle 6-0, 6-0.

“Fairview is the current and defending region champion. We knew this would be a difficult match, but our girls fought hard,” Warren coach Jon Meyer said.

In exhibition play, the teams of Kaity McCracken and Alyssa Schooler, and Kelsey Pratt and Amanda Gray were victorious over their Fairview opponents, while the teams of Corinn Gern and Rylee Nuhfer, Alyssa Schooler and Sydney Anderson and Meg McGuinness and Kamryn Moore all lost to their Fairview opponents.

The Dragons are 3-6 this season. Next Thursday they take on McDowell at Betts Park. The match starts at 4 p.m.
