Warren’s Knapp, Johnson help lead Twins 18U to title at Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Northeast Twins 18u baseball team featuring Warren’s Colby Johnson and Derek Knapp competed at and won the Lock Haven Wood Bat Classic this weekend.

Game one had Knapp on the mound and Johnson playing left field. Knapp pitched five innings allowing only three runs on two hits while issuing four walks. Zack Parr (Olean, NY) got the save. Johnson went 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Knapp was 3 for 3 with a double a run scored and an RBI. The Twins win 12-3 over Xtra innings baseball from Kiski Area, near Pittsburgh

Game two was a 6-5 win over Northeast Twins 17u that features another Warren Dragon, Lance Baldensperger. Lance was the driving force for the 17u going 3 for 4 with three RBI and one run scored.

He led off the seventh inning with a single and scored the go-ahead run on an error. Johnson was 2-4 with an RBI in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game. Knapp was 1-4 with an RBI and one run scored. The 18u won the game when Frank Wyman (Horsehead, NY) stole home and avoided the tag at the plate.

The championship game was another Twins vs Twins – 18u vs Twins Navy with 18u winning 5-1. Johnson was 2 for 3 with an RBI a run scored and a walk. Knapp was 1 for 3. The two former Dragons played side by side up the middle, Knapp at shortstop and Johnson at second base. The pair combine for 13 put outs in the game and both finished batting .500 with zero strike outs for the tournament.

Baldensperger playing for the Northeast Twins 17u team, was 8 for 12 double, five RBI and two stolen bases for the weekend.
