Micah Passmore

PITTSBURGH – Warren’s Ryan Rafalski went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and Aidan Kelly tossed a complete game 6-hitter to lead the Erie Steelheads 16U to a 10-1 win over the Batting 1,000 Seminoles (Freeport, NY) on Thursday at the University of Pittsburgh Mid-Atlantic Super Select.

In their final tournament of the season, the Steelies (27-8) got on the board in the second inning, with Rafalski driving in his high school teammate Micah Passmore (walk) with an RBI single.

Kelly helped his own cause in the third, lacing a single to right field to bring in Casey Smith (Harbor Creek).

Leading 2-1 in the fourth, Erie broke the game open with three more runs.

Passmore got things started, belting a run-scoring double and he was driven in on Cam Williamson’s (Harbor Creek) single. Jared Bielanin (McDowell) brought in Williamson with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.

Meanwhile, Kelly was in cruise control on the mound, striking out four in his six innings of work.

The Steelies bats continued to scorch, scoring five more runs in the sixth.

Rafalski notched his second RBI single of the game, followed by a sac fly off the bat of Casey Smith, an RBI triple by Fairview’s Mason Bender and another RBI single from Kelly.

Williamson joined Rafalski in the 3-hit club, while Bender and Kelly had two each. Warren’s Mitch Grosch went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while Passmore was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Steelies return to action today at 10 a.m. against Jet Box Finn at 9 a.m., followed by a 3:45 p.m. contest against Renegades Sports Club.
