Sherman Irwin

Sherman Neal Irwin, 97, of Warren, PA., died Sunday evening, July14, 2019 at Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA. He was born March 20, 1922 in Mayburg, Forest Co., PA. Sherman was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1940 graduate of Warren High School. He had served with the U.S. Army as a Technician 5thGrade with the 472ndQuartermaster Truck Company, during World War II. Sherman was employed with the United Refinery Company, retiring after 42 years employment. Sherman was a former member of the Warren Moose Lodge 109, American Legion Post 135, Warren Eagles Aerie, Clarendon Veterans of Foreign Wars Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his 2 children – Linda Shattuck and Jeffrey Irwin and his wife, Cathy all of Warren, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Scott Shattuck of Orlando, FL., Jodi Funk and husband, Matt of Beaumont, CA., Marcy Jurkowski and husband, Brian, Jeff Irwin, Jr. and his wife, Shellee, Jamie Irwin and wife, Beth all of Warren, PA., 6 Great Grandchildren, Mackenzie and Paige Funk, Kylie and Katelyn Jurkowski, Adam and Ellee Irwin, 2 Step Great Grandchildren – Craig and Kyle Vanderhof, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Louie Irwin, his wife of 58 years, Vita J. Jackson Irwin whom he married March 28, 1946 in Warren, PA., who died July 1, 2004, brothers and sisters – Kenneth, Robert, Fred, George Sr., Donald, Alma, Wilma, Bill, Howard, Lula and Orpha.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 11:00 A.M.to 12:00 P.M. when a funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. William Beatty, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Full military honors will be conducted at Warren County Memorial Park by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. Funeral Honor Guard and the U.S. Army. Memorial contributions may be made through American Cancer Society or the Warren Salvation Army.
