Orren Wood

Orren L. “Woody” Wood, 86, of Warren, PA., died Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017 at the Rouse Warren County Home after a brief illness. He was born January 23, 1931 in Warren, PA. Orren was the son of Fred O. and Cecil Christensen Wood. He had resided his entire life in Warren and was a 1949 graduate of Warren High School.

He served with the U.S. Navy BTC during the Korean War. Woody was employed as a maintenance man for 33 years with the former National Forge Company, retiring from there in 1997. He had been a limousine driver with Munksgard Limousine and also worked at the Warren County Fair Grounds doing numerous duties. Woody was a member of First Lutheran Church where he had served on the property committee. He was a member of the Watson and Pomona Grange and Warren American Legion Post 135.

He is survived by 1 Son – Jim Wood and wife, Debbie, of North Port, FL, 1 Daughter – Karen Lake and husband, Todd of Youngsville, PA., 3 Grandchildren – Jameson Wood, Branden Lake, and Justin Lake. He is also survived by his longtime friend and companion, Betty Smith Berry of Warren, PA, and her daughters – Lee Barney and Sherry Mikkelsaar. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Sister – Katherine Burlingame, and 1 Niece – Ann Burlingame.

Friends may call at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Avenue, Warren, PA, on Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 11:00am until 12Noon, at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the church by members of the Clarendon/Sheffield V.F.W. funeral honor guard and the U.S. Navy personnel. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
