Karen Ahlgren

Karen Jewell Ahlgren, age 73, passed away on March 27, 2017 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA. She was born in Warren, PA on October 31, 1943 the daughter of Arnold E. Jewell and Eleanor “Billie” (Pees) Johnson. She married David Norman Ahlgren on December 4, 1964, who preceded her in death on September 4, 2009. Karen was also a former resident of Pittsburgh, PA and Plymouth, MI.

Karen was a homemaker who loved history, genealogy, golf, camping, gardening, and Penn State football. She was a nursing student at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. Karen was a member of the Woman’s Club of Warren, the Conewango Valley Country Club, Meadowbrook Country Club, the Warren Shakespeare Club, Grace United Methodist Church, and the Red Hat Society. Karen was also an active volunteer and supporter of the Warren County Historical Society and Warren’s Library Theatre.

Surviving are her children Timothy Ahlgren, his wife Lisa and their 5 children and 2 grandchildren of Canton, MI; William Ahlgren, his wife Rebecca and their 2 children of Cranberry Twp., PA; Carrie Reynolds, her husband Dave and their 4 children of Grove City, PA; Susan Mugerdichian, her husband Marty and their 3 children of Adrian, MI.

Also surviving are 4 siblings Kathleen Grettum, her husband Thomas of Fallon, NV; Judith Rapp, her husband Dan of Warren, PA; Jennilee Essig, her husband David of Seattle, WA; Jerry, his wife Carrie of Russell, PA; Inlaws Audrey Hart of Dunedin, FL, Betty Carlson of Warren, PA, June Ellington of Lakewood, NY, Sharon and Roger Pike of Erie, PA, Judith Turner of Randolph, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Russell United Methodist Church, 17 N. Main St, Russell, PA, on Saturday, April 1, from 2 to 4 p.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Jerome Kennedy, pastor, officiating.
