The installation of the gym floor at Warren Area High School is nearing completion.

A crew from Sport Floors out of Koppel starting installing the hardwood surface on Monday and expects to be done by Wednesday. At 98 feet long and about 80 feet wide, there are a lot of 2.25-inch boards involved.

The boards are of various lengths. If they average seven-feet in length -- many are much shorter than that -- the job would require just short of 6,000 individual boards.

Rob Fulmer of Sport Floors said the company will sand the floor for about a week once it is fully installed, including the base and threshold. Then, two coats of sealer, game lines, and two coats of finish will be put on.

In all, it could be three weeks ore more until the floor is ready for use.

Warren County School District Clerk of the Works Dennis LaMonica said the goal is to have the floor ready for the winter sports season.

Starting at /week.
