Increased hours at Youngsville Public Library: Starting this month, Youngsville Public Library will also be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular business hours are now: Mondays and Wednesdays noon to 6 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Fridays, noon to 4 p.m. Call 814-563-7670 for more information or visit our website at YoungsvilleLibrary.org.

¯ Monthly story time: Starting Tuesday, Oct. 12, the library will have a monthly story time from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. This is a free program, no registration required, target ages are approximately 3-6 but all ages welcome. Monthly story times are currently scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. Upcoming dates: Oct 12, Nov 9, and Dec 14. State Library COVID policy currently dictates that for fully vaccinated individuals masks are optional and for unvaccinated persons masks are required. For more details call 814-563-7670.

¯ Free PA Career workshops every week: Youngsville Public Library is excited to announce that starting in this month, it will be hosting Free PA Career Link Development Workshops and job search assistance every Wednesday:

¯ October 6 from 1:30 – 2:30 pm TEF staff member Danielle Ditz will present a “Time Management & Self Care” workshop (call or text her at 814-272-4020 to register & for questions).

¯ October 13 TEF staff member Rebecca Whitney will hold an open/walk-in Q & A time from Noon – 1 pm, a virtual and in-person Budgeting 101 Workshop from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, and an in-person “Cover Letter Writing” workshop from 2:00 -3:00 pm, to register call or email Rebecca at 814-853-5141 or at Rebecca.Whitney@nwpacareerlink.org.

Local Fundraisers:

¯ Rummage & Bake Sale- Saron Lutheran Church (West Main St, Yngs) is having their annual rummage/bake sale. Thursday & Friday, October 7 & 8 from 9 am – 4pm and Saturday, October 9 from 9 am – noon ($1.00 a bag special on Saturday).

¯ Garland Bingo- Monday, October 4th at the Garland Fire Hall. Doors open at 4:00 pm, Bingo starts at 6:00 pm. $30.00 for all you can play on regular card, additional games too. Kitchen specials are Pizza burger and onion rings.

¯ Spaghetti Dinner: Sunday, October 17th from 11:30 am – 5:00 pm St. Josephs is having a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser to benefit St. Joseph’s Educational Center. ¯ Youngsville Cemetery volunteers needed: if you are interested in volunteering to help trim and/or mow various areas of the cemetery please call 814-563-9004. There is no obligation to assist on a weekly basis but any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Such as … Island Park Music series, Jubilee, Hometown Christmas, parades, BVSP, Parks & Recreation events that you would allow to be used in advertising and future promotions. ¯ Recyclathon — Saturday, October 9th from 9 am – 1 pm is the Warren County Collection Recycleathon Event at School District Central Office, 6280 Market Street, Russell, PA 16345. Pre-registration is required. Register online at www.ESCR.net or call for appointment at 1-866-815-0016. Items not allowed: medical waste, radioactive material, tires, syringes, ammunition, or large appliances. Detailed list of allowable items found at www.ESCR.net. Costs for service: All household hazardous waste $2.00/lb.; Universal waste (bulbs & batteries) $1.50/lb.; Paint (oil based & latex) $0.75/lb.; All Tube/CRT-TVs and monitors $0.60/lb.; Small Freon containing devices $0.70/lb.; Propane tanks $4.00/each; and All Non-CRT Devices/other electronics $0.40/lb.
