19 new COVID cases reported in county

There were 19 new cases of COVID-19 and two new COVID-related deaths added to Warren County’s totals on Thursday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Heath reported that the county has had 1,268 cases – 1,067 confirmed and 201 probable. That reflects a rate of 3,210.3 of every 100,000 population — or 3.2 percent.

The COVID-related death toll in the county reached 23, according to the department.

According to Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik, that number will likely continue to rise. Zydonik reported 30 total COVID-related deaths in the county as of Thursday morning.

The department has reported that its COVID death statistics should line up with a county coroner’s numbers within a week.

There was no change for the fourth straight day in the COVID situation at Warren General Hospital, according to the department’s data. There were 18 patients with COVID in the hospital, six of them using ventilators, and none in intensive care.

The Warren zip code had 8 new confirmed cases and one new probable. Spring Creek had three new confirmed cases and one less probable, Pittsfield and Sugar Grove added two confirmed cases each, and Bear Lake, Columbus, Tidioute, and Youngsville each had one new case.

The department has announced that there will not be a daily update on Christmas Day. Reporting will resume on Saturday.
