Eisenhower basketball standout Clara Steinberg recently signed her national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic career at California University of Pennsylvania next year.

Steinberg, a senior, had scholarship offers from eight schools, covering four states and six conferences.

“Each visit taught me something new and gave me incredible experiences, but nothing could compare to what I experienced at Cal. U,” she said. “I’m grateful to every coach that believed in me. The hardest part was telling them that I was not attending their school.”

Steinberg is chasing some big goals this season, including breaking the Warren County girls scoring record of 1,822 points currently held by Eisenhower graduate Elisha Jones, Steinberg currently sits at 1,358.

A deadly shooter from inside and outside the 3-point arc, Steinberg averaged 23.1 points per game last season. Her 75 3-pointers during the 2024-25 season placed her No. 1 across the state. Not only a proficient scorer, she also is productive in all facets of the game, averaging 5.8 rebounds, 3.9 steals, 4.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per outing.

It is in fact all of those skills that has Cal U coach Jess Storm excited.

“I am super excited for Clara to join our Vulcan famil,” Storm said. “Her work ethic was the first thing I noticed when watching her play. Obviously she can put the ball through the hoop, but I just love the passion that she plays the game with.”

Steinberg knows the adjustment to college will be hard, but she feels she is ready for the challenge.

“Playing time at the college level is not promised,” she said. “My goal is to earn court time and make an impact, and be a standout rookie, someone who brings energy, leadership and drive from day one,” she said.

Added Storm: ” I fully expect her to come in the fall ready to work her way into the court. I think she will fit into our program perfectly, with her grit and toughness. Clara is such a smart player. I imagine she will learn our system quickly and be ready to play her freshman year.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
