RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights’ rally fell just short in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday as Union City won a Region 3 baseball game 6-4 at Werner Park.

The Bears opened up a 6-0 lead and held that lead heading into the bottom of the sixth before the Knights’ bats went to work and cut the lead in half at 6-3.

Eisenhower’s Aiden Nichols and Cole Kellogg singled with one out. Cameron Jakubczack singled to drive in Nichols to put the Knights on the board. Kael Hunt followed with a two-run single to make it 6-3.

Eisenhower had the bases loaded before Bears pitcher Wyatt Post got the Knights to pop out to end the inning.

The Knights defense was solid and put down the Bears in order in the top of the seventh inning.
