Warren 11-12 all-stars open with 11-1 victory

All of Warren’s Boys Majors were stars on Friday in an 11-1 Little League all-stars tournament opening win at Betts-Jackson Field.

Every position in the lineup scored at least one run, including leadoff hitter Tanner Stuart, who singled to start the bottom of the fifth inning and was knocked in by Cole Fitzgerald for a mercy-rule victory.

Broc Bryan started on the mound for Warren and struck out five in two innings. The 11-12-year-old Warren all-stars jumped on Smethport/Mt. Jewett for four first-inning runs.

Stuart and Wesley Wilcox followed Bryan pitching while Warren built up its lead.

Fitzgerald and Bryan hit one-out back-to-back doubles on the first, and Wilcox, Wyatt Wilson and Aaron Shene added singles in the four-run frame.

Warren batted around in the third inning, scoring five times on hits by Heath Genis, Wilson, Eddie Abplanalp and Stuart.

Wilcox, Genis and Wilson strung together singles for a 10-1 fourth-inning lead.

Wilson finished 3 for 3 for Warren, which advances to play at 4 p.m. Sunday at Potter/McKean in Coudersport.
