Sheffield gave up five rushing touchdowns to Falcons’ quarterback Gavyn Ayers in a 63-0 loss that was sealed up by half time.

“Danah Campbell had a heck of a ball game tonight,” said Sheffield Head Coach Mike Barr. “We challenged him this week and to me he rose to the occasion. But we have got to get everyone playing on that level. I’m not downing my kids. I’d take these kids all week long. They listen. We just need to put it together.”

Ayers finished with 165 yards on the ground, while the Falcons totaled 348 yards rushing for the night.

Sheffield only managed 95 total yards. Malique Outland, who came in at quarterback well into the second quarter for Dylan Hardwick in hopes the change would add a spark to the offense, ran for 50 yards on 13 carries. Hardwick jumped over to wide receiver to go on and lead with 2 receptions for 41 yards.

“Dylan stepped up, and he’ll be okay,” said Barr of the first half quarterback switch. “We need somebody that’s going to go fight for the ball as a receiver. Kids were put on notice this week that if there’s screw ups, mess ups, they’re being moved. Dylan didn’t mess up in any way, I just needed ballmakers to go make catches.”

Falcons’ running back Dylan Kelly scored twice, and Allen Williams capitalized on a Wolverines fumble late in the second quarter to run in a 50 yard touchdown. The Wolverines had seven fumbles in the first half, losing four.

“We moved the ball, we got a first down the first time we had the ball, then we fumbled,” said Barr. “We kept shooting ourselves in the foot. We made some bad mistakes. We have a lot of kids that can run a football, but maybe I need to quit trying to get everybody their little dabs, and start running the kids that are sure ball handlers.”
