Jackals fall by 1 in triple overtime

WARREN — Bernard Edwards had quite a game Saturday.

It just wasn’t quite enough to produce a victory for Jamestown in The Basketball League.

The 6-foot-6 forward scored 39 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but the Jackals fell to the Syracuse Stallions, 140-139, in a marathon triple-overtime game at the Warren County YMCA.

The loss dropped Jamestown to 1-1 on the season.

Joining Edwards in double figures for the Jackals were Christian Nobles (25), Four McGlynn (23), Dane Miller (19), Raheem Singleton (13) and Daniel Mulamba (10).

Jordan Robertson led the Stallions with 30 points, Jonathan Ivy had 29 and Jimmy Gray III collected 25. Other double-figure scorers for Syracuse were Jacquil Taylor (17), Brandon Caruthers (14) and Michael Henry (11).

Jamestown led 53-49 at halftime and 81-80 after three quarters, but the game was tied at 114 at the end of regulation, 123-123 after the first overtime and 134-134 after the second OT. There were 19 lead changes and the game was tied 15 times.

The Jackals connected on a whopping 42 of 61 free throw attempts (69%) compared to 17 of 30 (57%) for the Stallions, but the hosts struggled from the field (42 of 106, 40%). The Stallions, by comparison, were 55 of 112 (49%).

Mulamba finished with 12 rebounds and Miller had 10 for the Jackals. Caruthers led the Stallions with 13 boards.
