Jamestown Community College had another successful night in the pool as the women beat Genesee CC, 122-75, and the men beat the Cougars, 98-34.

The meet came just two weeks after the women recorded a win over the Cougars by just four points.

“Both teams are just swimming really well. You can see them coming together one swim at a time,” Jamestown CC coach Todd Conklin said. “The team was really steady.”

Karianne Yuchnitz broke both of her own records in the 50-yard freestyle (25.01) and 100-yard freestyle (55.61) for the Jayhawks.

Matt Fennell broke the Jamestown CC record in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:10.02.

Jackson Vanstrom won the men’s 1,650-yard freestyle (21:13.62) and Megan Stang won the women’s 1,650-yard freestyle (23:20.01).

“For Jackson, it was his first time swimming the 1,650 and he had an incredible swim,” Conklin said. “Megan Stang hasn’t bee in the pool in a few years and she just keeps giving me everything that she has.”

Jamestown CC will wrap up its league season next Monday against Erie CC before a quad meet April 3. The regional championships are scheduled for April 10-11.

“To continue to swim in a pool by themselves,” Conklin said, “I’m impressed these kids show up every day and give 100%.”
